You’ll be part of our fire readiness strategy and on-call for fire roster duties. Expect extended hours, shifts, or days under physically demanding conditions, and be on-call at times, depending on the fire danger levels in your location.You’ll be involved in a variety of activities such as:Manual LabourBushfire fightingHazard reduction burningWeed controlRoad and fire trail maintenanceBuilding and facilities maintenanceVehicle and equipment upkeepAssisting with tree marking and ecological/cultural heritage surveysHeavy plant operationEssential Skills RequiredDemonstrated experience or skills in forestry, farming, outdoor, or construction work.Ability to work as part of a team, meeting deadlines and standards.A valid driver’s license – provisional and aboveA positive attitude and commitment to our core values.Highly Regarded (but Not Essential) Skills & ExperienceTruck licence (MR, HR, HC, etc.)Experience with heavy plant operation or chainsaws.Prior bushfire fighting experience.First aid, use of chemicals, 4WD and off road, or any other relevant competencies.Studying or holding qualifications in Forestry, Environmental Science, or Natural Sciences.Pre-employment Screening RequirementsThe successful applicant will be required to complete:Drug and Alcohol ScreeningMedical AssessmentFire Task-Based Assessment (TBA)Candidates must be fit to perform firefighting duties, which may involve working in smoky conditions and navigating uneven or steep terrain. Employment offers will depend on meeting the physical requirements and passing the pre-employment medical assessment.
