* Review and interpret irrigation plans, blueprints, specifications, bills of quantities (BOQ), and project documentation to understand scope and requirements.
* Occasionally perform site visits and field measurements (take-offs) to assess site conditions, soil types, water sources, vegetation needs, and layout challenges.
* Calculate quantities of materials needed, including pipes, fittings, sprinklers/emitters, valves, controllers, pumps, wiring, backflow preventers, and other components.
* Sound knowledge of hard-hose irrigators and centre pivot irrigators.
* sound knowledge of water bores, submersible pumps and headworks.
* Research and obtain current pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and labour.
* Existing relationships with Perth based suppliers/vendors.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labour hours, material costs, equipment usage, overheads, profit margins, contingencies, and any special factors (e.g., permits, excavation, or sustainability requirements).
* Assist in developing formal bid proposals, scopes of work, and tender submissions for standalone irrigation projects.
* Collaborate with project managers, designers, engineers, sales teams, and clients to clarify details, suggest value engineering options, and refine estimates.
* Analyse historical cost data and track actual vs. estimated costs on completed projects to improve future accuracy.
* Participate in pre-bid meetings, client consultations, and negotiations with general contractors or owners.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of irrigation products, industry standards (e.g., water efficiency guidelines), local regulations, and pricing trends. Required Skills and Qualifications
o Previous experience with AroFlo work program will be considered a major advantage.
o Strong understanding of irrigation system design principles, components, hydraulics, water conservation practices, and installation methods.
o Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
o Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for accurate quantity take-offs and cost calculations.
o Experience with estimating software/tools or irrigation-specific programs) and AroFlo Job Management, Microsoft Office.
o Knowledge of construction costing, bidding processes, and contract types.
o Good communication and negotiation skills for dealing with clients, suppliers, and team members.
o Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines, especially during peak bidding seasons.
