About the Role:
Tronox is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Rehabilitation Advisor for an opportunity at our Eastern Operations in regional NSW. The role will coordinate rehabilitation planning and achieve rehabilitation outcomes at our Snapper, Gingko and Atlas Mines.
As the Senior Environmental Rehabilitation Advisor, you will have a strong focus on ensuring the successful environmental rehabilitation of our mine sites is in-line with NSW mining legislation and regulations. Responsibilities include:
1. Utilise available rehabilitation methods to achieve desired quantity and quality of rehabilitation within approved budgetary requirements;
2. Identify and acquire native seed species, manage seed banks and application of seed over new areas to achieve the rehabilitation program objectives across Eastern Operations
3. Manage the storage, inventory and supply of native seed across Eastern Operations
4. Ensure Rehabilitation Management Plans are effectively implemented and objectives are achieved in a timely manner;
5. Create, implement and monitor progressive rehabilitation plans through the whole lifecycle of the mine;
6. Work seamlessly with rehabilitation service providers to ensure safe, effective and cost-efficient services that comply to the required standards;
7. Monitor and maintain rehabilitation areas and collect data and maintain a rehabilitation dataset;
8. Create and update maps of rehabilitated areas;
9. Assist in preparing reports related to the sites’ rehabilitation and regulatory requirements; and
10. General environmental rehabilitation monitoring and management as required.
11. Coordinate rehabilitation research trials and refine rehabilitation completion criteria based on rehabilitation monitoring and research.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
12. Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management or related field.
13. Demonstrated experience in restoration, rehabilitation or revegetation, preferably in the minerals industry.
14. Knowledge of NSW environmental legislation and statutory rehabilitation regulations and a keen understanding of environmental management systems
15. Experience in undertaking environmental field monitoring and ability to create and analyse environmental datasets.
16. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, often in an outdoor setting.
17. Keen attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to working in a safe and responsible manner.
18. Able to demonstrate experience to engage key stakeholders across all levels including government regulators.
19. Experience in GIS or mapping computer skills (desirable, ArcGIS, QGIS, UAV training, other).
