Deliver end-to-end recruitment and generalist HR support as an ASO4 Consultant
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated HR professional to join the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) as an HR Consultant.
In this role, you will deliver high-quality HR consultancy and advisory services across the Department, supporting managers and employees on a broad range of workforce matters. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance with policies, legislation, and industrial instruments, while contributing to workforce planning, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
A significant component of this role is the coordination of State-wide recruitment for Trainee Correctional Officers (TCOs) and Correctional Industry Officers (CIOs), providing a unique opportunity to be involved in large-scale, end-to-end recruitment activities across South Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality HR advice and customer-focused support across workforce management functions.
Interpret and apply HR policies, legislation, and enterprise agreements to support sound decision-making.
Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and systems.
Analyse workforce data and HR trends, preparing reports and evidence-based recommendations for senior management.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across business units.
Participate in recruitment and selection processes for corporate roles.
Undertake HR research, projects, and ad-hoc tasks as required.
State-wide Recruitment Responsibilities
As part of managing State-wide recruitment for TCOs and CIOs, you will:
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes, including application processing, assessments, and interview panel facilitation.
Explore and implement alternative sourcing strategies to attract a diverse and high-quality applicant pool.
Manage employment contracts, recruitment databases, and related documentation.
Organise and attend employment expos and information sessions.
Liaise with external recruitment agencies to expand candidate reach.
Provide data-driven reporting on recruitment outcomes and trends.
Travel intra-state to regional locations such as Port Augusta, Port Lincoln, and Cadell.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of recruitment and selection practices.
About You
You will bring:
Proven experience in recruitment and/or HR advisory roles within the public sector or a similarly complex environment.
Sound knowledge of HR policies, legislation, and industrial instruments.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Strong analytical, research, and report-writing capabilities.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using HR information systems.

Special Conditions
Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and
other applicable industrial entitlements.
The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check.
A current South Australian Driver's Licence is essential.
A flexible approach to working hours is required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.

Additional Information
We have a full-time ongoing vacancy and a temporary vacancy up to 12 months.
