The role
Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, this position sits at the intersection of legal, operational risk, compliance and insurance. It offers genuine ownership, executive exposure and the opportunity to shape and strengthen frameworks across the organisation. This is ideal for a senior lawyer who enjoys being embedded in the business — not just advising from the sidelines.
This role offers exposure to executive decision-making and the opportunity to influence risk maturity and governance outcomes across the enterprise.
The Role You will:
* Deliver practical, commercially grounded legal advice across contracts, disputes and regulatory matters
* Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and related documentation
* Manage disputes and claims, including oversight of external advisers
* Support and enhance the compliance framework, investigations and reporting
* Maintain and develop operational risk registers and mitigation plans
* Coordinate audit and assurance follow-up across the organisation
* Manage the insurance program, including renewals, broker engagement and claims oversight
* Supervise the Insurance & Risk Officer
You
* Admitted to practise in Australia (LLB or equivalent)
* Comfortable working across operational risk and compliance frameworks
* Experienced in commercial contracting and dispute management (private practice and/or in-house)
* Familiar with insurance programs, claims management and renewals
* Strong in stakeholder engagement and able to distil complex issues clearly
* Organised, pragmatic and confident operating in a multi-priority environment
* Experienced in supervising or mentoring team members
