The Role
We are looking for dedicated and responsible individuals to join our maintenance team. The role entails variety of tasks to maintain a functional and environmentally sustainable outdoor environment across Newcastle and hunter valley. The role will suit those individuals who have demonstrated experience, a positive attitude and can work to meet the compliance requirements in mining, power, and government sectors.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Keep all gardens, grounds and external areas of the site well maintained
- Ensure gardens are neat and tidy
- Mowing and whipper snipping of grounds
- Weed identification and removal
- Keep all walkways and areas clear of debris and rubbish
- Communicate with Strike Force Grounds Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Coordinator to determine daily work priorities.
- Adhere to Strike Force Services & site policies and procedures
- Actively participate in daily risk management processes & regular toolbox meetings
- Undertake Job Safety Analysis and Take 5 assessments on site before each task
Skills and Experience:
- Sound experience with tools of trade including ride on lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, whipper snipper, chainsaws and high-powered hand tools related to the gardening industry
- Exceptional understanding of WHS & Environmental Sustainability requirements
- Certificate III in Horticulture desirable
- AQF-3 Chemical Accreditation desirable
- Maintain & Operate Chainsaws ticket desirable
- High level of physical fitness to perform the requirements of this role
- The ability to plan, prioritise and problem solve
- Good time management skills and strong attention to detail
- Be self-motivated, hardworking and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills both verbal & written
- Current drivers' licence (manual)
- Live within 1 hour's drive of Newcastle
- 3 work related references
