The Department of Veterans’ Affairs is recruiting a high-performing Senior Digital Producer to play a hands-on-role in developing live video, motion graphics, photography, and animated content for the department. The role will work closely with Communications Branch colleagues, teams across the department, and external stakeholders to commemorate important Veteran events, promote the department’s service offerings and achievements, and engage in meaningful veteran storytelling.
You’re a creative and technically skilled video producer with solid experience in multimedia production and a passion for storytelling through visual imagery. You bring a mix of hands-on experience and strategic thinking to every project, and you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You are a team player who takes responsibility for their work and proactively supports others to achieve team objectives.
You will have experience in producing video content for a range of communication channels, including social media, website, and external media. You will have a sound understanding of contemporary videography, photography, and animation practices, equipment and software.
You're familiar with all video formats and understand how production differs depending on the social media platform or digital channel a video is published or distributed on. You are comfortable working with a range of stakeholders, from veterans and professional service representatives to departmental executives and ministers, providing on-camera talent with polite but decisive direction to achieve project outcomes. Familiarity with interviewing talent is desirable, but not essential.
The key duties of the position include:
* Create high-quality live video, photography, and animated content that promotes positive brand awareness of DVA and resonates with our audiences
* Plan, organise, shoot, edit, grade and produce finished video content, including titles, graphics, and sound, for a variety of digital channels
* Liaise closely with internal stakeholders to understand project scope, communication and audience objectives and project goals
* Creatively outline or storyboard video and animation content
* Set up and configure cameras, lighting, and audio equipment correctly for photography and video shoots, both in the DVA office studio and in external locations
* Provide creative guidance and advice to stakeholders on the best digital video practices and solutions for their needs
* Solve technical and practical problems that arise during shoots
* Provide editing and post-production support for live-action video content and photography
* Keep up to date with current and evolving digital video and animation trends
* Maintain production spaces and equipment, manage digital files and completed projects.
Eligibility
* Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
* Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
* Any successful candidate will also be required to obtain and/or maintain, a baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance as a minimum.
Mandatory Requirements
* Demonstrated experience working as part of a team to deliver competing projects
* Demonstrated experience developing high-quality videos, photography and animations from creative concept through to post-production and delivery
* Experience in using Adobe Suite, including Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator
* Ability to balance multiple competing projects and work calmly under pressure
* Understanding of video creation for social and digital channels
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to follow a brief
* Demonstrated personal organisational and project management skills.
