We are seeking a skilled Senior Cost Engineer to join our team in a dynamic and evolving work environment. This role will involve supporting project teams, mentoring junior staff, and playing a key role in cost management, forecasting, and budget control.
Key Responsibilities:
* Translate complex data into clear actionable insights for stakeholders and project teams
* Enhance and streamline cost control tools processes and procedures
* Provide mentorship and guidance to junior cost control staff
* Partner with project managers and budget holders to support effective financial oversight
* Prepare timely and accurate periodic cost reports in consultation with internal teams
* Coordinate with engineering teams to clarify discrepancies and contribute to risk mitigation strategies
* Monitor expenditures analyse variances and present findings to relevant stakeholders
* Forecast costs for project line items in collaboration with project teams
* Assess potential variations and claims from subcontractors and vendors
* Support ad hoc cost analyses and participate in project review meetings as required
* Act as a liaison between engineering accounts and project teams to ensure financial clarity
* Recommend process improvements for more effective cost control
* Build and maintain historical cost databases for future reference
About You:
* Several years of experience in the cost control function within the Oil & Gas or related process industries ideally on international large-scale projects with progressively increasing responsibilities including team leadership
* A background in Quantity Surveying is highly regarded
* Demonstrated expertise in cost control with fully developed technical competencies
* Capable of establishing and enhancing standards procedures and processes
* Experienced in developing project budgets aligned with standardised structures
* Skilled in producing accurate cost forecasts to support project management objectives
* Performs comprehensive variance analysis including quantities costs labour hours and productivity metrics
* Ensures the accuracy and quality of deliverables produced by junior team members
* Strong understanding of estimating methodologies and practices
* Proficient in reviewing and refining estimates for changes in project scope or trends
* Thorough knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure requirements across all project phases
