About the Role
The Hatchery Maintenance Employee plays a key role in supporting the maintenance of equipment and infrastructure within our high-performance Hatchery. You'll assist with preventative maintenance, routine repairs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and helping ensure our hatchery operates safely, efficiently, and in line with biosecurity standards.
This role suits someone hands-on, mechanically minded, safety-focused, and eager to learn. You'll be working closely with our Hatchery Maintenance Supervisor, receiving ongoing training, and developing skills across a unique mechanical and technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with preventative and routine maintenance of hatchery plant and equipment
* Carry out minor repairs, adjustments, and basic mechanical tasks as directed
* Support troubleshooting to minimise downtime and maintain equipment reliability
* Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively
* Perform maintenance tasks in line with schedules, SOPs, and safety standards
* Provide accurate daily updates and complete required documentation
* Follow all quarantine and biosecurity requirements
* Participate in the maintenance call-out roster once trained
* Work both independently and as part of a small, supportive team
* Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and compliance
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Mechanically minded with hands-on maintenance or tool-use experience (any industry) - (Previous maintenance experience in farming, manufacturing, or similar roles will be highly regarded)
* Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn new skills
* Able to follow instructions, work safely, and solve basic equipment issues
* Comfortable working with tools, equipment, and basic mechanical tasks
* Willing to work within strict biosecurity and quarantine rules
* A strong communicator who enjoys working in a team environment
* Physically fit and able to work in a hatchery setting
