Due to internal career progression, we’re looking for a Mechanical Workshop Supervisor to join our Vehicle and Small Plant Workshop. This is more than just a supervisory role — it’s an opportunity to lead a high-performing team that keeps the City of Ipswich moving.

What you’ll be doing
As a key member of our Fleet Services Branch, you’ll:
* Provide visible, hands-on leadership to a team of skilled technicians
* Coach and mentor staff to deliver high-quality maintenance on fleet vehicles, small engines, and specialised machinery
* Collaborate with other supervisors and management to improve service delivery and exceed internal customer expectations
* Maintain a safe, efficient, and positive workshop environment
What we’re looking for
We’re after someone who:
* Leads by example and brings out the best in their team
* Has strong time management and organisational skills
* Enjoys variety — no two days are the same in this role
* Is passionate about delivering quality outcomes for the community’
* Has a Mechanical Trade qualification and experience
* Has a Current Drivers Licence applicable to your trade qualification, minimum C class
* Holds a White Construction card or ability to obtain
* Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role within a mechanical environment
* Experience in commercial mowing equipment an advantage
* Belief in our values of safety and wellbeing, communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership

Key responsibilities
* Provide technical advice and assist with maintenance specifications
* Oversee workshop documentation and ensure compliance with systems and processes
* Supervise staff, contractors, apprentices, and trainees to meet performance targets
* Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

What's on offer
A full-time vehicle and small plant supervisor position commencing from $45 per hour plus 12.5% superannuation
* 9-day fortnight: every second weekend is a long weekend
* 4 weeks annual leave: with 17.5% loading so you get paid more to be on holidays
* Competitive Salary: paying allowances, penalties and 12.5% super

* Uniforms supplied and washed: all PPE provided
* Monday to Friday hours: day shift
