Fauna Spotter–Catcher – Gold Coast and Brisbane

FaunaWorks Environmental is seeking a motivated and capable fauna spotter–catcher to join our team and support projects across the Greater Brisbane amd Gold Coast region

Coast based wildlife consultancy specialising in fauna spotter–catcher services, habitat assessments, and the management of EVNT listed species. We work across a diverse range of environments and pride ourselves on delivering high‑quality, ethical, and science‑based outcomes for clients and wildlife alike.

Key Responsibilities


• Conduct pre‑clearance surveys and assessments of fauna habitat


• Undertake targeted presence/absence searches for priority species


• Supervise vegetation clearing in accordance with regulatory requirements


• Identify, capture, handle, and relocate fauna safely and ethically


• Assist with terrestrial and aquatic fauna management activities


• Develop and implement nest box plans, including installation and monitoring


• Record, process, and report field data accurately


• Maintain strict adherence to safe work practices and environmental protocols

Desirable Skills & Qualifications


• Relevant tertiary qualifications in ecology, environmental science, wildlife management, or similar


• Experience as a fauna spotter–catcher or equivalent role within Queensland


• Strong fauna identification and handling skills


• Ability and willingness to work outdoors for extended periods in varying conditions


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Competence with computers and data entry


• Experience using GIS mapping software


• Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and the ability to work safely with minimal supervision


• Construction White Card


• Venomous snake handling certification and/or demonstrated experience


• Current First Aid certificate


• Working at Heights certification


• Full Australian driver's licence


• Lyssavirus and Q‑fever vaccinations


• Residence within the Greater Brisbane or Gold Coast area.
