Head of Technology - Sydney
We are seeking an accomplished Head of Technology to join a purpose-driven, nationally significant organisation undergoing major evolution and transformation.
We have been engaged by a national agency that partners with government and industry to finance and deliver more social and affordable housing for Australians. Established 7 years ago, the organisation has 250 employees and a technology team of 30 staff.
Role mandate
Reporiting to the COO, this is a pivotal executive role responsible for setting enterprise technology strategy, governing platforms and leading digital transformation at scale. You will modernise the organisation’s technology ecosystem and provide visionary and operational leadership across architecture, engineering, cyber security, data, platforms and service delivery - ensuring technology is secure, scalable, future-ready and aligned to business strategy. You will lead a hybrid delivery model across in-house teams and strategic partners and play a critical role in enabling innovation, data-driven decision-making and the responsible adoption of AI.
* Define and deliver the enterprise technology strategy aligned to business and digital ambitions
* Advise the executive team on emerging technologies, risks and opportunities
* Build future-ready technology capability to support innovation and automation
Architecture & Engineering
* Lead enterprise and solution architecture across cloud, integration and data platforms
* Govern design standards and ensure scalable, secure and interoperable solutions
Software Engineering & DevSecOps
* Lead engineering teams and partners to deliver high-quality, agile solutions
* Embed DevSecOps, CI/CD and platform engineering practices
* Promote reusability, automation and quality at scale
Cyber Security & Risk
* Own cyber and information security strategy aligned to regulatory and risk frameworks
* Oversee threat detection, IAM, secure architecture and incident response
* Provide executive-level visibility of security posture and maturity
Technology Operations & Service Management
* Ensure reliable, resilient and high-performing platforms and services
* Own service management, SLAs and major incident response
* Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
Data, AI & Governance
* Lead enterprise data strategy and data governance
* Ensure platforms are AI-ready with strong lifecycle controls and ethical guardrails
* Establish AI governance aligned to recognised frameworks
* Govern strategic vendors and delivery partners
* Lead technology financial planning, budgeting and cost optimisation
* Ensure value realisation from technology investment
People & Stakeholders
* Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams
* Act as trusted advisor to executives and business leaders
* Drive collaboration between technology and the broader organisation
About You
You are a senior technology leader who combines strategic vision with delivery discipline. You can modernise complex environments while keeping security, risk and service reliability front of mind.
* Executive leadership of large-scale technology functions
* Deep expertise in enterprise architecture, cloud, DevSecOps and modern integration
* Strong cyber security and technology risk background
* Proven success leading hybrid delivery models (in-house + partners)
* Experience establishing enterprise data governance and AI-ready platforms
* Commercially astute with strong vendor and contract management capability
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills
* Experience in regulated environments (government, financial services, critical infrastructure)
* Certifications such as TOGAF, CISSP, SABSA, ITIL or SAFe
