Workshop Leading Hand Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive leader with a strong technical background and a commitment to safety and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Workshop Supervisor with overseeing other experienced fitters on the workshop floor, providing guidance and hands-on support.
About the Role:
* The Workshop Leading Hand reports directly to the Workshop Supervisor and plays a key role in ensuring that all vehicle maintenance is up to date and compliant.
* They will act as the second-in-charge for the Workshop Supervisor when required and provide trade-qualified guidance to workshop employees.
* Responsibilities include participating in the on-call roster, assisting with raising work orders for completed work, and monitoring timely completion of repairs, defects, and servicing.
* The ideal candidate will have trade qualifications in Automotive Mechanics (Heavy Road Transport highly desirable) with 3 years' trade experience.
* Experience as a leading hand or similar role is also highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership and guidance to workshop employees.
* Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
* Assist with the development of training programs for workshop employees.
* Contribute to the creation of a safe and healthy working environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Trade qualifications in Automotive Mechanics (Heavy Road Transport highly desirable).
* 3 years' trade experience.
* Experience as a leading hand or similar role (highly desirable).
* Knowledge of Kenworth (held in high regard).
* Experience with the maintenance of fuel trucks and trailers (highly desirable).
