Role Purpose and Objectives

The Infrastructure Services Department is responsible for the provision of major projects and services across a broad range of areas within Council's overall operations. This position plays a key role in contributing to the success of the Infrastructure Services Section. Under the direction of the Coordinator Civil Construction, the Construction Team Leader supervises the Construction team and ensures they have the tools and support to carry out daily duties. This role will ensure there is a daily, weekly and monthly plan to make sure that the team is able to fulfill community expectations and team goals.


Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications and experience

* Experience with a wide range of Windows based databases and applications and ability to effectively utilise customised software.
* Well-developed customer service skills for front-of-house face to face, telephone or e-mail interactions.
* Proven experience in cash receipting, cash handling and banking procedures.
* Demonstrated ability to use initiative in dealing with multiple / conflicting demands.
* Demonstrated ability to complete administrative and clerical tasks in an accurate and timely manner and to cope well under pressure.
* Demonstrated understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Council.
* Problem solving and investigation skills with the ability to interpret policies, processes and knowledge base.
* Sound knowledge of current Work Health & Safety Legislation and requirements.


Licenses & mandatory requirements

* Current South Australian Driver's License
* Permanent residency or current approved Australian visa


Roles and Functions

* Deal promptly, empathetically and efficiently with customers to meet their needs, adhering to the Customer Service Charter.
* Proactively attend to telephone and counter enquiries, taking and relaying messages where appropriate.
* Provide a general administrative function for the Customer Experience team including filing, photocopying and word processing.
* Perform cashiering duties including banking.
* Carry out general inputting and updating of databases to ensure the accurate collection and recording of customer service requests.
* Liaise professionally with members of the public and staff at all levels.
* Provide accurate information on Council services, policies, and procedures.
* Resolve issues at first point of contact minimising referrals to other departments wherever possible.
* Process payments for rates, permits, registrations, and other council services.
* Develop reports to provide statistics regarding customer service requests.
* Follow up outstanding Customer Service Requests (CSRs) and make contact with the person to update them on the request's progress.
* Document and contribute to improvement of business processes.
* Complete monthly reporting on customer service levels.
* Monitor and follow up Customer Service Requests (CSRs), liaising with Department Staff as required.
* Complete and provide monthly and quarterly reports on CSRs.
* Support the Coordinator Executive Services to provide guidance and leadership to the Customer Experience team.
* Although an employee may be appointed to a particular position, Council may ask for duties to be carried out in other areas that are within their range of skills, competence and training.
