Candidate Experience and Skills Summary
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in an area relevant to this position.
Demonstrated experience in using C/C++ and Python, especially for digital hardware interfaces and embedded ARM processors.
Experience using Python and Numpy.
Experience in system development, testing and integration.
Experience working with and debugging hardware.
Experience with prototype test and lab equipment automation.
Understanding of phased arrays and beamforming systems is desirable.
An interest in satellite communications, hardware, and the space industry in Australia.
Purpose and Responsibilities of the Role
As a Software Engineer you will be part of a talented team of engineers designing and building Quasar's Phased Array Ground Stations.
Quasar's Phased Array Ground Stations are optimised for sub-zero operating conditions and are characterised by careful and efficient system design, enabling cost effective and novel solutions to a growing infrastructure challenge posed by the expanding Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite market.
The Software Engineer will be an integral member of the hardware design team with an aim to solve this challenge.
This will require you to:
Work closely with the antenna, hardware, and signal processing engineers to develop control software for a satellite earth station.
Develop Python models and tests to verify the performance of the system during development and after implementation.
Deliver clean, reliable, and test-driven code.
Lead and participate in software code/functionality reviews.
Implement and maintain appropriate version control of code.
Compile test reports from lab testing.
