Kookaburra Kindy is a community-based preschool and is managed by an association of parents and community members. Our preschool is over 70 years old and continues to foster strong connections with the Blackheath community and provide inclusive education for children 3-5 years of age.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Centre Director to lead Kookaburra Kindergarten. As both Centre Director and Nominated Supervisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring high-quality early learning and care, supporting a positive team culture, and building strong relationships with children, families, staff, and the local community.
You'll lead day-to-day operations while ensuring alignment with the National Quality Framework, child protection standards, and our values-driven approach. This role is full-time off floor role, and you will need to possess strong verbal and written communication skills and strong computer skills. Above award wages and conditions plus Director's allowance, paid lunch breaks, school holidays and staff meetings.
Essential Criteria
· Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or Diploma with at least 5 years leadership/ Director experience
· Demonstrate strong understanding of the Early Years Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standards (NQF)and Compliance and Regulations.
· Current First Aid, CPR, and Asthma and Anaphylaxis training certificates
· NSW approved child protection training and mandatory national child safety training
· Willingness to act as Nominated Supervisor
· Working with Children Check (NSW) and clear compliance history
· NESA Accreditation (if applicable)
· Ensure supervision, safety, and well-being of all children in care at all times.
Desirable criteria
· Strong time management and organisational skills
· Understanding of State Government Funding and Budgeting.
* Experience with leading a service centre through Assessment & Rating processes
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives and mentor educators
