Job Overview
This role will play a leading part in overseeing AMSANT's strategic priorities. It involves coordinating and managing the policy research and advocacy team.
The position will have a strong focus on fostering stakeholder relationships for the Aboriginal community-controlled health services sector in the Northern Territory.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide leadership in policy research and advocacy to support the CEO, Board, and Members.
* Represent AMSANT on external policy and research working groups and committees.
* Manage the secretariat support to the Board, Research Subcommittee, General Members meetings, and the NT Aboriginal Health Forum.
* Lead the strategic direction for external communications.
* Lead and manage a team, providing direction and oversight in research and production of high-quality reports and submissions.
* Build and maintain relationships with AMSANT member services and external partners and stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
Essential Requirements
* Relevant tertiary qualification and extensive experience in health or social policy planning research and/or governance.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in comprehensive primary health care including the social and cultural determinants of health.
* Demonstrated high-level experience in strategic policy development and implementation in a health-related sector.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health research and/or understanding of Aboriginal health research processes and structures relevant to the Northern Territory.
* Ability to interact effectively with Indigenous people and people from diverse backgrounds.
Desirable Qualifications
* Previous experience working in the Aboriginal community-controlled sector.
