Iteration Manager (Agile Delivery & Planning)
A large Queensland Government division is seeking an experienced Iteration Manager to support forward planning and operational delivery across a commissioning-focused business unit. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping delivery cadence, aligning initiatives to strategic priorities, and ensuring the successful execution of a multi-stream operational plan.
Reporting to a senior executive, you'll lead Agile delivery rhythms, coach teams, and embed fit-for-purpose frameworks to support planning, prioritisation and execution. This role suits someone who is comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels — equally confident facilitating Agile ceremonies as preparing executive-level advice and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate Agile iteration rituals, supporting planning and delivery of a forward-year operational plan.
* Establish and maintain delivery cadence, metrics and reporting to provide visibility of progress, risks and dependencies.
* Coach team leads and delivery teams to improve Agile maturity, self-organisation and adaptability to change.
* Facilitate iteration planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, retrospectives and showcases.
* Support feature identification, estimation and prioritisation across multiple delivery streams.
* Guide story elaboration and requirements definition, ensuring work is clearly scoped and outcome focused.
* Actively manage scope within iterations, removing blockers and supporting teams to maintain momentum.
* Prepare high-quality executive briefings, reports and submissions providing clear advice on delivery status and risks.
* Embed strong workplace health and safety practices as part of day-to-day operations.
About You You are a confident Agile delivery leader with strong facilitation, coaching and stakeholder management skills. You thrive in complex environments, can translate strategy into executable plans, and bring structure to fast-moving delivery teams. You're comfortable engaging at executive level while remaining hands-on with teams to drive outcomes and continuous improvement.
Requirements of the Role Essential
* Demonstrated experience in Agile delivery, iteration management or similar roles.
* Strong facilitation and coaching capability across multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience developing delivery metrics, reporting frameworks and operational rhythms.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
Highly Desirable
* Experience in commissioning, service delivery, human services or social policy environments.
* Background in change management or operational planning.
* Relevant Agile or project management certifications.
