Senior Communications Specialist Role
This role presents a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic team responsible for managing infrastructure projects in the South Coast Region.
We are seeking a skilled communications specialist to provide strategic community and stakeholder management services, media relations, issues management, public affairs, and stakeholder relationship management.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in fast-paced project-based environments, preferably within the infrastructure, civil, or construction industries.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Advise project directors and managers on communications strategies for complex stakeholders and critical conversations.
* Prepare communication materials, including project collateral, media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers, display materials, speech notes, and others.
* Develop stakeholder management strategies and consult with diverse interest groups.
* Coordinate community and stakeholder engagement activities for road infrastructure projects.
* Provide ongoing strategic communications advice and develop implementation plans.
* Manage key communication activities such as road commissioning, launches, media opportunities, and other events as required.
* Enhance communication skills and relationships with key stakeholders and the community through training and support.
* Implement communication strategies, activities, procedures, and policies to achieve project objectives.
Requirements:
* Hold a Class C driver's license for site visits and face-to-face meetings.
* Undergo employment screening as part of the selection process.
* Possess a Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) or obtain one within six months of starting.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Degree in communications, public relations, or marketing, or equivalent work experience.
* Experience dealing with difficult stakeholders and critical conversations.
* Previous experience in major infrastructure project environments and social media competency.
* IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement and public participation.
* Knowledge of the infrastructure planning lifecycle.
