About the Position
The Civil Engineering Draftsperson plays a vital role at Davijaan Professional Services Pty Ltd by preparing accurate and detailed technical drawings and plans that support the company's structural engineering projects. Working closely with chartered engineers and the broader team, this position contributes to the design and certification of light gauge steel framing, residential extensions, retaining structures, footings, and other civil/structural elements, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory standards, project specifications, and client requirements. The role is essential in bridging conceptual designs with practical construction, enabling efficient project delivery, compliance, and high-quality outcomes for builders, fabricators, and homeowners nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed sketches, plans, drawings, and designs using CAD software for civil and structural engineering works, including drainage systems, footings, retaining walls, steel framing, house extensions, and related infrastructure.
* Assist civil/structural engineers in developing documentation for residential, light commercial, modular, and prefabricated projects.
* Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and instructions to produce accurate technical drawings and revisions.
* Perform calculations, tabulations, and checks to ensure designs comply with the Building Code of Australia, relevant standards, and site-specific conditions.
* Collaborate with the engineering team to incorporate feedback, resolve design issues, and support certification processes.
* Maintain organised drawing files, documentation, and records for project traceability and compliance.
* Participate in site assessments or data collection as needed to inform accurate drafting outputs.
Requirements

* Minimum Associate Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering, Drafting, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field.
* Minimum 2–3 years of practical experience as a civil draftsperson, structural drafter, or in a similar technical drafting role within the engineering or construction industry.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and other relevant drafting tools, with strong technical skills in producing detailed engineering drawings and interpreting specifications.
* Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities to ensure compliance and quality in designs.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, builders, and team members.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
