Overview
Novita provides early intervention, rehabilitation, therapy, assistive technology and disability services to more than 6,000 people living with disability, as well as support for their families and carers. Our primary purpose is to enable kids, young people and adults living with disability and their families to participate in the community to their full potential.
Role
As a Disability Support Worker based at Port Pirie, you’ll play a vital role in the planning and provision of a responsive client- and family-centred service, providing Hub and In-Home supports. You’ll use your knowledge and experience supporting people with physical and intellectual disabilities to promote independence, community participation and meaningful relationships in a safe and supportive setting. You’ll support clients by interpreting and responding to their communication needs, health care plans and mealtime guidelines, administering medication, and documenting observations to help clients reach their full potential and independence goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide client- and family-centred support in hub and in-home settings
- Interpret and respond to communication needs and health care plans
- Administer prescribed medication and maintain accurate records
- Assist with mealtime guidelines and documentation of observations
- Promote independence and community participation; foster meaningful relationships in a safe, supportive environment
- Contribute to care planning and collaboration with families, carers and colleagues
What You’ll Need
- Current NDIS Worker Check and Working with Children Check (must be completed before starting)
- Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, or Community Services (or willingness to enrol)
- Child Safe Environments training (Through Your Eyes)
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Quality, Safety and You
- Competency-based training in Assist Clients with Medication (HLTHPS006 or equivalent within last 6 months)
- Competency-based Manual Handling training (HLTWHS005 or equivalent within last 6 months)
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate (including CPR)
- A current valid Driver’s Licence

All Novita employees are required to undertake mandatory training relevant to their role. Support Workers are paid in accordance with the Social, Community Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS).
Remuneration and Benefits
Total remuneration package includes base salary, annual leave loading and statutory superannuation contribution. Benefits may include salary packaging up to $15,900 of your salary, increasing take-home pay by approximately $5,000, plus additional salary-packaging benefits such as meal and entertainment expenses, accommodation and venue hire, private novated leasing and additional superannuation contributions.
