ABOUT THE ROLE
As Public Affairs Lead, you will play a central role in shaping CA ANZ's external presence and protecting its trusted reputation. This role leads public affairs delivery including media relations, high‑profile events, member communications, crisis response, senior executive communications, and the hosting of CA ANZ podcasts and flagship activities.You will partner closely with the Group Executive External Affairs and other executive team members, the CEO, Chief Economist and othersenior stakeholders, to develop and execute impactful strategies that amplify CA ANZ's voice across Australia, New Zealand, and internationally.This is a high‑visibility, high‑trust leadership role requiring excellent judgement, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence without authority in complex environments.
Key responsibilities:

Lead and develop a high‑performing public affairs team delivering fast‑paced, strategic communications.
Act as a visible spokesperson and host for CA ANZ events, podcasts, and executive communications.
Build and manage strong relationships with journalists, national media outlets, policymakers, and senior internal stakeholders.
Oversee proactive and reactive media relations, ensuring messaging is aligned, credible, and audience‑focused.
Partner with the CEO and CEO's Office to deliver executive communications, videos, speeches, and public appearances.
Lead public affairs support for major organisational priorities including advocacy campaigns, Pre‑Budget submissions, profession‑shaping reform, and strategic initiatives.
Drive integrated communications across digital, social, and traditional channels using insights and data‑led decision making.
Support crisis and issues management, providing rapid, pragmatic direction and reputational risk mitigation.
Influence stakeholders across the organisation, aligning diverse views behind shared strategies and outcomes.
Support major events — including the Annual General Meeting and CA ANZ tentpole activities — as host, producer, or advisor.

ABOUT YOU

A strategic communicator with extensive experience in public affairs, media, broadcast journalism, communications, or PR.
A confident and experienced spokesperson capable of hosting events, podcasts, panels, and executive‑level activities with credibility and impact.
Skilled in building trusted relationships with senior leaders, media, government, and cross‑functional teams.
Strong in judgement, calm under pressure, and effective in high‑stakes or politically sensitive environments.
Digitally fluent, with experience using data, insights, and multi‑channel content to drive measurable outcomes.
A collaborative leader experienced in coaching, developing talent, and influencing without authority.
Exceptional written and verbal communicator with the ability to distil complexity and craft compelling narratives.
Passionate about delivering work that supports members, strengthens the profession, and elevates CA ANZ's public voice.
