Bidgerdii Community Health Services is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and wider Central Queensland region for more than 30 years.
Our services include general practice bulk-billing clinics, social and emotional wellbeing and generalist counselling services, chronic disease management, preventative health screening, children and family health and early childhood education services.
About the Role
The Domestic Assistant will:
* Provide essential, culturally sensitive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, helping to reduce barriers to accessing services and building trust and rapport.
* Assist with household management to maintain a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning living environment.
* Support potential Participants and their representatives to attend appointments as required.
* Carry out essential domestic tasks, including cleaning, organising, and meal preparation, to support the efficient operation of the household.
About You
You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in people's lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and have the following:
* Certificate III or higher in Community Services, Individual Support, or Community Development.
* Previous experience in a similar role is highly regarded.
* Understanding of NDIS, My Aged Care, and support services.
* Basic knowledge of health and community issues.
* Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
* Ability to assist with community development planning and evaluation.
* Willingness to be a community role model.
* Open to training in health interventions, capacity building, and ongoing professional development
Practical Requirements
* Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A and Pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
* Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card.
* NDIS Workers Screening card (Yellow Card) or willingness to apply for a Yellow Card (note a current NDIS Workers Screen card will be required prior to commencement).
* Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
* Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
