This includes undertaking comprehensive nursing assessments, referrals, providing expert consultation and educational support to staff, patients and family in the cancer setting.
The CNS2 is responsible for evaluation and supervision in the provision of complex nursing care in the oncology area, undertaking comprehensive assessment and management of cancer patients within specified tumour groups to support and manage these patients.
The CNS2 provides a service in consultation and collaboration with tumour stream CNCs, ensuring secure management of relevant patient groups, including care requirements for these patients.
The CNS2 acts as a skilled role model, delivering client advocacy and cost-benefit practice, and demonstrates leadership with the ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
The CNS2 also assists in supervision and development of less experienced clinicians and maintains accountability in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia's Standards of Practice.
