Role Description
This full time Criminal Defense Lawyer position is an on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC. The responsibilities include representing clients in criminal cases, preparing legal documents, providing expert legal advice, and appearing in court hearings, bail applications, plea hearings, contest mentions, trials, and negotiations. The role involves conducting thorough legal research, maintaining client relationships, and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve favorable outcomes. The candidate will also assist with Family Violence Intervention Order and Personal Safety Intervention Order cases as needed.
Qualifications
* Robust legal skills in Criminal Defense, including preparation of cases and courtroom advocacy
* Appearing in Pleas, Bail Applications, Contest Mentions and Mentions
* Proficiency in Legal Research and drafting comprehensive legal documents
* Excellent Communication and Negotiation skills to liaise with clients, colleagues, and opposing parties
* Time Management and Organization skills to effectively handle a demanding workload
* Knowledge of Family Violence Intervention Orders and Personal Safety Intervention Orders is highly advantageous
* Current legal practicing certificate in the jurisdiction of Victoria
* Minimum 3 years of experience practicing criminal law
* Robust ethical standards and a commitment to client-focused service
