Do you have a strong desire to help others and contribute a meaningful service to your community? If so, we are looking for you to join our highly respected and trusted Lifeguard Team at Yarra City council.
As part of the City Works and Assets division, the Recreation and Leisure Branch has a commitment to improving both the physical and mental wellbeing of the community.
As a Lifeguard you will perform a crucial role in ensuring public safety, best practice and a high level of aquatic supervision in our public aquatic and leisure facilities. Lifeguards are expected to understand our Watch Around Water policy, educate the public on it and ensure compliance. Safety is paramount and Lifeguards have a duty of care to intervene if safety is compromised.
Our aquatic programs operate from three facilities: Collingwood Leisure Centre, Fitzroy Swimming Pool and Richmond Recreation Centre.
Lifeguards are required to participate in quarterly In-Service Training and annual Emergency Management Training and are the primary responders in critical incidents. Lifeguards will oversee the pool deck operations and facilitate a positive and safe customer experience for all of our swimmers and aquatic programs participants.
Lifeguards are required to maintain rescue skills, competencies and qualifications. The autonomy and flexibility that we provide our staff comes hand in hand with a commitment to working mornings, evenings and weekends and to increasing their availability to work through our very busy summer period.
Applicants must have a current Working with Children Check, First Aid, Pool Lifeguard and CPR qualifications. It is essential that you are available to work early morning and evening shifts, over the weekends and during the summer period.
Please note: This is an ongoing recruitment drive for positions as they become available. Yarra City Council endeavours to contact you within a month of your application and reserve the right to close the advertisement when all the vacancies have been filled. Prospective applicants who do not yet hold a Pool Lifeguard qualification are encouraged to apply.
