The Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Counsellor to provide outreach, assessment, counselling, and referral services to clients and their families, in accordance with the Financial Counselling program requirements and agency policies.
A Few Specifics
Provide casework support to clients requiring assistance with financial management, including:
Assessing the client's overall financial situation.
Providing information and options to address specific problems and their implications.
Advocating and negotiating with credit providers as needed.
Responding appropriately to clients in crisis.
Identifying financial difficulties and understanding social issues linked to financial problems.
Evaluating financial situations and identifying possible options.
Communicating financial options to clients in a non-judgmental manner.

Essential Criteria
Recognised qualifications in financial counselling, Diploma in Community Services (Financial Counselling), or equivalent post-secondary qualifications.
Membership with the relevant regulatory body (e.g., Financial Counselling Australia).
National Police Certificate.
Minimum of two years relevant experience in financial counselling.
Experience and understanding of financial counselling services and challenges faced by remote and rural communities.
Ability to work across different Centrecare locations.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
