About the role
* Hybrid and fully remote working arrangements available with some domestic travel required

The Director of Government Relations, Policy & Evidence is a key national executive leadership role driving structural, legislative and policy reform to prevent violence against women. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead a multi-partisan engagement with Commonwealth, state and territory governments and play a central role in shaping national primary prevention policy priorities. This role also leads Our Watch’s contribution to building a shared national approach to primary prevention, drawing on robust evidence including key national frameworks such as Change the story.

As a member of the Executive Team, the Director also plays a critical role in whole-of-organisational leadership contributing to strategic decision-making, organisational performance, and nurturing a values-aligned culture. You may also lead cross-organisational strategic initiatives.

About you

You are an experienced policy and government relations leader with strong strategic judgement and a deep understanding of how government works across jurisdictions. You have worked in senior roles across public policy, advisory, research or government and ideally connected to gender equality or the prevention of violence against women.

You are confident engaging with Parliamentarians, senior officials and stakeholders in a multi partisan way, and you know how to turn evidence and data into compelling advice that influences reform. As a leader, you build high performing teams, manage complex workloads and budgets, and navigate fast moving policy environments with clarity and purpose. You will also be a seasoned leader and have demonstrated experience in contributing to organisation wide strategic discussions. Above all, you bring integrity, strategic insight and a genuine commitment to driving meaningful national reform.
