Primary objective
Provide high quality support to the Manager, Cabinet Office by assisting in the administrative support for Cabinet meetings and
Sub-committees of Cabinet.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate the preparation of documents for Cabinet meetings and provide administrative support to the Manager, Cabinet
Office including management of the Cabinet iPads and Airwatch system.
2. Provide advice and assistance to department officers in relation to Cabinet correspondence and related documents and
processes, including those relevant to Cabinet and Sub-Committees of Cabinet.
3. Assist in meeting the Department’s reporting obligations and maintaining relevant databases, including the management of
security and access controls for Cabinet data storage areas and the archival of Cabinet meeting papers.
4. Provide a proactive, effective and timely liaison service and advice between the Department and the offices of its Ministers and
other Northern Territory Government departments and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
5. Prepare routine correspondence and research Cabinet records in response to requests from agencies and prepare summary
reports as required.
6. Provide support and coverage to the Manager, Cabinet Office, as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience working with Ministerial, Cabinet and executive government documentation, their processes and procedures within
a government setting.
2. Knowledge of the requirements of the Cabinet Handbook and an awareness of current issues for the Northern Territory.
3. Demonstrated ability to work with initiative and limited supervision as part of a small team to effectively manage a range of
tasks with changing priorities.
4. A high standard of written and oral communication skills and organisational and administrative skills, with high level of attention
to detail and ability to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive issues and documents.
5. Extensive experience in administrative procedures and systems including high level competency in Microsoft Word, Adobe
Acrobat and database, corporate reporting and records management systems (similar to TRM, SharePoint).
6. Ability to relate to staff at all levels, including interacting effectively with people from diverse cultures with a willingness to
work extended hours on occasion if required.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of NT Public Sector agencies and the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet and their respective
responsibilities.
