About the branch
The Litigation & Dispute Resolution Branch comprises several legal teams that provide specialist legal services to government departments and statutory bodies on matters which are topical and often involve public interest issues.
4. The team of solicitors you'll be supporting manage diverse, complex and sensitive litigation including:
5. General civil, police civil and tortious claims
6. State care, personal injury and negligence claims (including historical institutional abuse claims involving former minors and young persons in the care of the State)
7. Coronial investigations including inquests
8. Supervision order matters
9. Judicial review and statutory interpretation
10. Contempt of court, defamation, injunctions and vexatious litigant applications
11. Commercial litigation
About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for an eager and dedicated Legal Assistant to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Branch. This role will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to a team of solicitors. This role would ideally be suited to someone looking to build on their existing legal secretary experience and create a career in this field. Day to day responsibilities include:
12. Preparing, formatting and reviewing legal documentation, including correspondence and court documents
13. Liaising with barristers clerks and preparing briefs for counsel including collation of e-briefs
14. Filing and service of court documents via online platforms
15. Autonomous file management - conduct of matter related tasks, monthly billing and maintaining efficient and effective electronic files
16. Calendar and mailbox management
17. General administration duties

Skills and experience
18. Demonstrated experience in litigation legal administration
19. Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office
20. Demonstrable capability in providing high quality assistance to a team of solicitors
21. Strong understanding of legal processes and court jurisdictions, legal terminology and an ability to conduct research using online databases and systems
22. Self-starter who takes initiative with advanced skills in problem solving
23. Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to service excellence
