$120,000 FTE per year (pro rata for Part Time)
We are looking for a strategic, future focused leader who is passionate about working within a museum with a vision to amplify the voices of Holocaust survivors and inspire a world free of hate.
As the Head of Learning, you will set the strategic direction for MHM's Learning areas, guiding a team that designs, delivers and evaluates programs for schools, teachers, adult learners, community groups and corporate clients. You will lead innovation in curriculum aligned museum learning, foster partnerships across education and cultural sectors, and ensure the Learning team operates in a child safe and strategically aligned manner.
You will oversee program design grounded in best practice pedagogy, expand learning pathways, champion accessibility and inclusion, and strengthen the long term impact of MHM's learning for all of our audiences.
The role requires strong strategic capability, dedication to audience-led programming and a commitment to collaborative work within a small, high performing team. You will work closely with curatorial, education, program and visitor facing staff, volunteers as well as external stakeholders and partners.

About You / Qualifications
You will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Education, Museum Studies, History, or a related field, OR equivalent experience in a similar leadership role.
* Proven experience leading learning, education or public-facing programs in a school, museum, cultural or academic environment.
* Strong capability in strategic planning, converting organisational objectives into actionable team priorities.
* Excellent people-leadership skills, with experience mentoring staff, supporting professional growth and managing performance.
* Strong project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage scope, timelines, budgets and stakeholder communication.
* Experience in reporting, KPI tracking, and using data to drive program improvement.
* Ability to foster inclusive, community-minded, values-driven learning environments.
* Understanding of, or willingness to develop knowledge of, Holocaust history and its contemporary relevance.
* A commitment to upholding Child Safe Standards in all areas of work.

Current Working with Children Check and satisfactory background checks including a current National Police Check; commitment to Child Safe Standards; willingness to develop knowledge of Holocaust history.

The Melbourne Holocaust Museum (MHM) is Australia's largest institution solely dedicated to Holocaust education, research, and remembrance, fostering the values of respect and acceptance of difference.
Established by Holocaust survivors in 1984, the MHM is an award-winning museum and research centre, showcasing two permanent exhibitions and a diverse rotation of special exhibitions. Annually our education programs are attended by over 25,000 students, we hold over 100 events, and welcome thousands of local and international visitors.
The MHM Collection holds more than 1,300 survivor testimonies and 12,000 historical artefacts from both the pre-war and Holocaust eras and holds two permanent exhibitions.
