The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally possess extensive knowledge in planning for the speech and language needs of students with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Speech and Language Specialists will need to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as possess the ability to work independently, in order to support class and whole of school language initiatives. Suitable applicants will need to develop and support the implementation of specialised language programs for students with identified speech and language difficulties.
In addition to the specialised language programs, suitable applicants will ideally display their ability to build the capacity of teachers, education assistants and parents. They will ideally support the strategic direction of the school through remaining abreast of current research and proactively distributing information through parent programmes and professional learning opportunities for staff. The Speech and Language Specialists provide input to the development of school-based policy and plans in relation to the school's language programme.

o Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to prepare reports and deliver professional development programmes.
o Ability to monitor and evaluate language‐impaired students' progress both individually and in the context of language/literacy programmes.
o Highly developed interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to function in a self‐directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team in an educational and/or community setting.
