Full time fixed term until 31 December 2026 – position can be located at either Broken Hill, Wentworth or Bourke campuses of Broken Hill UDRH Opportunity to join the research team as Research Fellow at Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) Base Salary $ 127,436 17% superannuation (some support for relocation may be provided) About the opportunity The Broken Hill Rural Clinical School (RCS), also known as the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH), is funded under the Commonwealth Department of Health’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program. Our focus at the BHUDRH, is to lead the design and delivery of innovative teaching and learning environments for medical, nursing and allied health students undertaking their placement in our region. We also actively work to improve the quality of health care for rural, remote and First Nations Peoples by fostering local and regional collaborations and enhancing national expertise in rural and remote health research and the translation of research into policy and practice. Our team is distributed across the far west, north and south western regions of New South Wales. We are committed to providing the best educational experiences and supporting pertinent research in order to support the growth and development of rural Australia. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher with expertise in the area of either medicine, nursing, allied health or rural and remote health care. This is an important role in research of rural health and remote health care. Your key responsibilities will be to: write applications for competitive research grants or funding to deliver research with impact for rural and remote communities maintain a research profile, including publication of book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, conference and/or seminar papers conduct original research independently or as part of a team, focusing on publication, conference presentations, and securing research funding develop research collaborations and engage in translational research that result in knowledge or technology transfer leading to improved policy or practice, or enhancement to industry, the profession or community provide informal mentoring and guidance to lower-level academics and supervise postgraduate research students or projects where appropriate carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school/department meetings About you PHD in relevant Health discipline or research related field such as medicine, nursing, allied health or rural health demonstrated experience in writing applications for competitive research grants or funding to deliver research with impact current research profile, including publication of book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, conference and/or seminar papers demonstrated original research independent or as part of a team, focusing on publication, conference presentations, and securing research funding experience in developing research collaborations and engagement in translational research that has improved policy or practice, or enhancement to industry, the profession or community experience in providing informal mentoring and guidance to lower-level academics and supervise postgraduate research students or projects carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty/school meetings currently living or ability to relocate to either Broken Hill, Wentworth or Bourke campuses of Broken Hill UDRH current drivers licence Sponsorship / work rights for Australia You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply.
