Financial Controller / Commercial Business Manager

That said, we're open to shaping this position around the right person — including a more focused Financial Controller role if that's where your strengths lie.
In either form, the core responsibility is to ensure financial integrity, drive margin growth, and partner with the leadership team to fuel smart, sustainable expansion across the agency and group entities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Control & Reporting
Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, accounts, payroll, and statutory obligations.
Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and monthly executive dashboards.
Own the annual budget process and quarterly reforecasting cycles.
Maintain compliance with ATO, ASIC, and financial governance standards.
2. Commercial Leadership (if hybrid role is activated)
Act as a commercial advisor to the Managing Director and team leads.
Analyse performance across service lines, projects, and clients — unlocking insights to improve profitability.
Support pricing strategies, margin improvement, and scenario planning.
Help evaluate partnerships, investment decisions, and new market opportunities.
3. Process Improvement & Systems
Strengthen systems, workflows, and reporting automation to support scale.
Lead or support implementation of financial tools and business intelligence platforms.
Work cross-functionally to align finance with operations, delivery, and sales.
4. Leadership & Team Collaboration
Manage internal finance resources and/or external bookkeeping/accounting partners.
Mentor junior team members or future hires.
Contribute to leadership conversations on business health, risk, and growth.
Who You Are
CPA or CA qualified (ideal but essential).
5+ years of finance experience, ideally with exposure to creative, digital, or service-based businesses.
Equally comfortable in the detail and the big picture — hands-on, yet strategic.
Commercially minded, data-driven, and outcome-focused.
Tech confident.
