Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – Advanced Drones & UAV Systems

About the Role
We are seeking a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) with CASA certifications to support the development, maintenance, and testing of advanced drones and UAV platforms. This role is critical to ensuring that our UAV systems meet stringent airworthiness, safety, and compliance standards, while also pushing the boundaries of aerospace innovation.
The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with a hands-on approach to inspection, testing, and certification.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct maintenance, inspection, and testing of advanced drones and UAV systems in accordance with CASA Part 66 licensing requirements
* Perform airworthiness assessments and provide recommendations to ensure compliance with CASA and defence/aerospace standards
* Oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and rectification of UAV platforms
* Maintain accurate technical records, logbooks, and compliance documentation
* Collaborate with engineering and systems integration teams on modifications, upgrades, and certification of UAV platforms
* Ensure strict adherence to safety management systems, quality assurance frameworks, and regulatory compliance requirements
* Provide technical leadership and mentoring for junior technicians and engineers where required
Skills & Qualifications
* Current CASA Part 66 LAME Licence (B1.1, B1.2, B1.3, or B2 categories depending on applicability)
* Demonstrated experience in aircraft maintenance, preferably including unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), drones, or rotary/fixed-wing platforms
* Strong knowledge of airworthiness testing, diagnostics, and compliance procedures
* Proficiency in fault finding and hands-on systems/hardware troubleshooting
* Ability to work in field environments supporting flight test, commissioning, and V&V (Verification & Validation) activities
* Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
* Must be an Australian Citizen (eligibility for Defence-related projects may be required)
* Experience with UAV-specific avionics, propulsion, or control systems
* Knowledge of Defence aviation standards (DASA, ASDEFCON)
* Previous involvement in flight test programs or advanced aerospace projects
* UAV pilot certification (RePL) beneficial but not essential
