Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced
IMS Database Administrator
to join a core Mainframe Systems team. Reporting to the Team Leader, this senior role provides technical leadership and expert consultation across IMS database environments, ensuring high availability, performance, stability, and integrity within complex production systems.
This position requires deep expertise in IMS database architecture, FullFunction and FastPath environments, and strong mentoring capability to support junior team members. The successful candidate will operate as a key technical authority across Mainframe, Storage, and Application teams.

Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership across IMS database usage, monitoring, performance, and tuning activities.
* Project manage and implement new IMS database functionality in partnership with application development teams.
* Deliver expert technical diagnosis and resolution of complex IMS performance and availability issues.
* Oversee backup, recovery, and database design activities across FullFunction and FastPath environments.
* Provide input into platform improvements to maximise stability, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
* Liaise closely with production support, storage, and application teams to ensure effective service delivery.
* Support Business and Technical Managers with key platform and service concerns.
* Deliver education and guidance to mainframe customers and IT teams on efficient IMS database usage.
* Maintain and enhance production stability, throughput, and data integrity.
* Mentor and guide junior team members across IMS database disciplines.
Skills & Experience
* Extensive hands-on experience in IMS database administration.
* Expert knowledge of IMS FullFunction and FastPath components.
* Strong capability in availability management, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, and data integrity.
* Solid understanding of IBM z/OS operating system.
* Experience with IBM and BMC IMS database utilities.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex production environments.
* Proven ability to collaborate across organisational and technical boundaries.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting enterprise technology services.
