$73,569 - $75,843 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 5-6 (depending on skills and experience) + Site Allowance) + Superannuation

Rockhampton Airport is ready for takeoff with an exciting opportunity for an Airport Reporting / Works Safety / Maintenance Officer to join the crew In this role, you'll be the eyes on the runway, responsible for inspecting, monitoring, reporting, and maintaining the aeronautical safety and security facilities that keep our airport flying high.
You'll navigate the dynamic airside environment, gaining hands‑on experience in critical operations such as emergency response, wildlife hazard mitigation, and incident management. Think of it as your chance to be part of the team that ensures every journey starts and ends safely.

It is an ongoing condition of employment for this position to meet the necessary requirements to qualify for an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) which includes Australian Citizenship and Police Background Checks (arranged by Council). Applicants must also satisfy the requirements of the Rockhampton Airport Drug and Alcohol Management Plan.
Applicants must also have the ability to acquire and retain a Queensland Firearms Licence (Category A, B, C and H); Senior First Aid Certificate and Aircraft Radiotelephone Operator Certificate of Proficiency.

Responsibilities
* Inspect, monitor, report, and maintain aeronautical safety and security facilities.
* Operate light plant and machinery safely in an airport environment.
* Respond to emergencies, wildlife hazards, and incidents in accordance with airport protocols.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including the public, military, tenants, and council teams.
* Maintain accurate records and compliance with aviation and safety regulations.

Application Criteria
* Experience operating equipment and plant such as tractors, slashers, brush cutters and lawn mowers in an airport environment and experience with working outdoors in the CQ weather.
* Ability to interpret and understand manuals, technical drawings, written instructions as well as possessing computer skills.
* Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail, effective teamwork, and clear communication with diverse stakeholders.
