About the role: We are currently seeking an experienced sports journalist for our WIN News service, based in Wollongong. Working in a regional newsroom offers an experience like no other, allowing you the opportunity to take ownership of your round.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will be responsible for researching, compiling and producing high quality sports stories for our weekday news bulletins. While capable of covering general news, you also have a passion for sport - which will see you reporting locally on all sporting events, in a market which includes several national teams. In this role, no two days are ever the same, offering you variety and the opportunity to represent the local community. You'll liaise with editors and camera operators to ensure our bulletins meet deadline and are of the highest standards. This is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday.
About you: To be the successful candidate, you will have:
* A university qualification in journalism with at least one year experience
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings winning bulletin
* Knowledge of local, national and international sport
* Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law
* Accuracy and excellent attention to detail
* Ability to meet deadlines through effective time managementCapacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships
* Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility
* Positive work ethic, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes
