Assistant Professor Practice Dental Hygiene College of DentistryThe College of Dentistry at The Ohio State University is seeking a qualified and passionate individual to join our dental hygiene program as an assistant professor-practice.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental hygiene, clinical experience, and a commitment to educating and mentoring the next generation of dental hygienists.
This is a part-time (9 month) position with responsibilities in teaching, clinical and laboratory supervision for the autumn and spring semesters.Responsibilities :TeachingProvide instructional support in pre-clinical and laboratory sessions.Evaluate student work according to established rubrics.Foster a positive and interactive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.Maintain current educational methodology professional development.Clinical EducationProvide hands-on clinical supervision and education to dental hygiene students during patient care procedures.Ensure compliance with established protocols and ethical standards in the clinical setting.Offer constructive feedback to students to enhance their clinical skills and professionalism.Evaluate student work according to established rubrics.Foster a patient-centered, team-oriented learning environment.Education and Experience RequirementsRequiredA Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene.Current Ohio licensure as a dental hygienist.Meets OSDB requirements to administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide sedation.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education and clinical practice.DesiredGraduate degree in dental hygiene or related field.Experience in dental hygiene education.Strong clinical experience in dental hygiene practice.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.Active involvement in professional organizations and commitment to continued professional development.This is a .4 FTE hire (16 hours / week), in a 9 / 12 faculty position within the College of Dentistry starting Fall semester 2025.How to ApplyTo be considered, please submit your application electronically via Workday.
