About the Role
We are looking for an Electrical Design Consultant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys creating smart, functional, and beautiful home environments. This role focuses on helping homeowners plan and design their electrical and lighting layouts for new home builds. You will guide clients through product selections, compliance requirements, and modern electrical solutions including lighting, power, data, smart home technology, and energy-efficient options.
The role is based at our Head Office in Varsity Lakes, with standard office hours Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5pm, and Friday 8:30am to 4pm.
Main Responsibilities Include:
* Conduct a mix of in-person and virtual consultations with homeowners to understand their lifestyle, design preferences, and budget, translating their requirements into practical, build-ready electrical plans.
* Design complete electrical and lighting layouts, including switching, power, and data, ensuring compliance with Australian standards and builder specifications.
* Complete variations to electrical layout upon builder request within specified timeframes.
* Produce clear and accurate documentation, plans, schedules, and specifications for construction teams, minimising rework and ensuring projects run smoothly.
* Deliver a professional, customer-focused consultation experience, keeping homeowners informed, confident, and satisfied with their selections.
* Collaborate closely with construction supervisors, estimators, and design staff to clarify requirements, resolve design questions, and ensure seamless handover into the build stage.
Skills & Experience:
* Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
* High attention to detail and strong organisational skills, including an ability to manage multiple appointments and deadlines.
* Previous use of design or planning software an advantage
* Professional and customer-focused attitude.
* Self-motivation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in electrical design consultations
* Knowledge of smart home technologies or home automation.
* Experience working with residential builders or construction processes.
