The City Renewal Authority is a statutory authority of the ACT Government responsible for delivering design-led, people-focused renewal across Canberra’s city centre and key urban precincts.
Through strong partnerships with government, industry and community, the Authority is shaping a more vibrant, sustainable and economically resilient city.
Established under the City Renewal Authority and Suburban Land Agency Act 2017, the City Renewal Authority is responsible for renewal across the designated City Renewal Precinct, including Civic, Braddon, Dickson and the Acton Waterfront.
The Authority plays a central role in guiding the planning, design and delivery of major precincts, encouraging design excellence, integrated infrastructure outcomes and environmental sustainability.
Through thoughtful stewardship of land and strong partnerships, the Authority enables high quality development and investment that supports long-term public value.
Job description The ACT Government is seeking to appoint an experienced Non-Executive Director to the City Renewal Authority Board, bringing deep expertise in urban renewal, architecture, urban design, civil infrastructure and/or environmentally sustainable development.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will contribute to the strategic oversight of major, long-term urban renewal initiatives that shape the character, functionality and liveability of Canberra’s city centre.
You will bring an independent perspective to Board discussions, supporting robust governance, risk management and performance, while contributing specialist insight across design, infrastructure and sustainability.
Working collaboratively with fellow Board members and the executive leadership team, you will help guide complex projects and ensure outcomes that balance design excellence, delivery, environmental performance and community benefit.
How To apply The Board is seeking a highly regarded senior leader with deep expertise in one or more of the following areas - Urban renewal and precinct development, Architecture and/or urban design, Civil engineering and infrastructure delivery, Environmentally sustainable development and climate-responsive design.
Board meetings are held approx 5 to 6 times a year with additional meetings or sub-committee involvement from time to time.
