Your New Company
This reputable NFP organisation provides essential services and support to vulnerable members of the Tasmanian community. With a strong focus on inclusion, collaboration, and service, they offer a supportive working environment. Due to changes in the team, they are seeking a Payroll Officer to join their finance team on a temporary basis to support them in the immediate time to keep the payroll function flowing smoothly.
Please note:
A current National Police Check (NPC) and Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration are required for this role.
Your New Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for approximately 600+ employees across salaried, rostered, and timesheet-based arrangements. You'll also support the team in a new system and assist with general finance tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process fortnightly payroll with accuracy and attention to detail
* Interpret and apply relevant legislation, awards, and EBAs
* Maintain payroll records and resolve discrepancies
* Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless data flow
* Respond to employee payroll queries with professionalism and care
* Assist with accounts payable/receivable and other transactional finance duties
What You'll Need to Succeed
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a payroll role
* Proficiency with payroll systems (Employment Hero experience highly regarded)
* Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance
* Excellent attention to detail and time management
* Effective communication and teamwork skills
* Current WWVP and NPC (or willingness to obtain)
