The RBA is looking for Lead Analysts to join its Domestic Markets department. Your team Domestic Markets is responsible for implementing the Reserve Bank's operations in domestic financial markets and producing policy-relevant research and analysis to inform monetary policy. There are roles available across multiple teams: Monetary Policy Implementation – Dealing is responsible for implementing the Monetary Policy Board’s policy decision by dealing in the domestic repo and government bond markets. The team also conducts research and policy work related to the Bank’s operations in financial markets, produces regular analysis on money market conditions and liaises with market participants. Institutional Markets Section (IMS) and Securities Markets Section (SMS) provide analysis, research and policy advice on issues related to financial conditions facing Australian households and businesses. In broad terms, the teams consider: how is monetary policy transmitting through the banking system and wholesale funding markets? And how is that affecting decisions to save, borrow and invest? This work is highly relevant for monetary policy and involves a mix of research, briefing and statistical work. The teams also collaborates with government agencies on other policy issues and produce key financial statistics. Your role As an analyst, you will work closely with a manager and colleagues in a small team. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your leadership capabilities. Your role may include: analysing and interpreting a broad array of data and information to identify and answer policy-relevant research questions, in collaboration with other teams across the Bank helping to implement our domestic market operations and contribute to related policy work communicating how developments in domestic and international financial markets affect economic conditions and monetary policy transmission liaising with external stakeholders, including market participants and other government agencies. overseeing the production of key financial statistics About you We are looking for motivated and engaged analysts with a strong interest in policy-relevant work in a collaborative environment. To be successful in these roles you will have: strong technical skills, a sound theoretical framework, and an ability to apply these to interpret and analyse data demonstrated ability to undertake analysis covering topics that are less well-defined and/or require a wider range of analytical approaches. demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and to collaborate productively with others, and to work independently as required clear communication skills, including an ability to prepare well-written reports and deliver clear presentations a degree in economics, finance or a related field, preferably an honours degree or higher.
