About the role
The Occupational Therapist will provide high-quality community-based therapy for children aged 0-4 years with developmental delays and disorders.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, they will conduct assessments, manage caseloads, collaborate with families and agencies, and contribute to professional development and service improvement.
Key duties of the role
Provide comprehensive assessments, therapy, and management for children with developmental delays, ensuring coordinated care with multidisciplinary teams.
Use professional judgment to consult with team members, other agencies, and community groups to develop and implement effective client management programs.
Offer supervised placements for students and deliver relevant education sessions to colleagues, students, and community groups.
Promote a supportive, safe work culture, addressing concerns constructively and maintaining effective communication within the team.
Ensure high standards of professional conduct, adhere to the organization's core values, and complete ongoing professional development in line with AHPRA requirements.
Skills and Experience
Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification, which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
Demonstrated ability to relate well to, work with and support children of birth to preschool entry and their families from various cultures and backgrounds, often in complex vulnerable families.
Experience with assessment and treatment of children aged 0-4 years, ideally in a community-based setting.
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate community oriented, holistic therapeutic interventions appropriate for children and their families.
Knowledge on when to refer onto other health professionals, in order to best support both the child and their family.
