About the Opportunity
We're looking for a motivated and community-minded individual to join our Environmental Health team as an Aboriginal Cadet Environmental Health Officer.
This role offers hands-on experience, professional growth, and the opportunity to work on Country and support your community's wellbeing with strong guidance from our experienced team.
What You'll Be Doing
Assisting with inspections of food businesses, public swimming pools, spas, cooling towers, caravan parks, and skin penetration premises such as beauty salons and tattoo studios.
Supporting the team on development applications and environmental assessments.
Assisting with community requests about air, noise, water, contaminated land and waste issues.
Participating in health promotion activities and local community events.
Maintaining accurate records and writing basic reports.
Developing an understanding of public health and environmental laws.
Supporting the team in delivering exceptional customer service.
What You'll Bring
Identification as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
A genuine interest in health, science, or the environment.
Good communication skills and a reliable, organised, team-player attitude.
Comfortable working both indoors and out in the field.
Eligibility to and commitment to completing a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) at Western Sydney University over a 6-year period.
Salary & Benefits
Salary ranges from approximately $31,288 to $53,196 per annum, depending on age, qualifications, and prior work experience.
Superannuation (12%) is additional.
The role is fully paid.
Location & Tenure
Based at the Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya, 2 Biripi Way, Taree.
You may also be required to work at other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: 6-year fixed term.
Full-time: 35 hours per week.
