We're looking for a sharp, experienced media professional to shape and lead a talented team responsible for high-impact media and digital strategies that directly influence the lives and safety of Queenslanders. From workers' compensation to industrial relations, electrical safety to workplace health and safety, your work will matter.
As Manager – Digital and Media, you'll head up a high performing, agile team inside the Strategic Communications function at OIR. You'll be someone who thrives under pressure, is fluent in the media and digital landscape, and understands how to navigate the public sector and regulatory environment. Experience with high-risk issues and crisis communication will be highly regarded. You'll be advising the Director of Strategic Communications, the OIR Executive, Ministerial staff and other senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Leading and mentoring a high-performing media and digital team.
Driving proactive media planning and issue/crisis communication response.
Managing relationships with media outlets, journalists and key internal stakeholders.
Monitoring the media and digital environment to identify risks and opportunities.
Delivering or supporting integrated campaigns across media, digital, social and stakeholder channels.
Writing and reviewing high-quality content: speeches, media releases, briefs and editorials.
Managing the out-of-hours media service and when required supporting media training for executives and technical spokespeople.
Embedding a strong risk-based model for workload, team resourcing and communications delivery.
Contributing to a team culture of accountability, action and strategic alignment.
Qualifications
Proven media expertise with a strong risk lens and stakeholder judgement.
Experience in public sector, regulatory or enforcement environments (highly regarded).
Deep understanding of reputational risk, crisis management and media strategy.
Ability to lead, coach and build a resilient, high-performing team.
Strong digital communication capability across platforms - including social, web, video and emerging channels.
Comfortable managing complexity, ambiguity and political sensitivities.
