About the Team
Governance and Corporate Compliance supports the Commission in enhancing governance maturity, ensuring internal coherence and external transparency. This involves establishing, leading, and coordinating governance and compliance activities to enable the Commission to fulfill its role as a national regulator, aligned with its strategic objectives, through effective implementation, review, and reporting within the Enterprise Governance and Accountability Framework.
The team provides strategic advice on governance, delivers secretariat services for various committees, enhances governance capability, and manages compliance oversight and reporting to monitor adherence to legislative frameworks and obligations. Our team is trusted, responsive, and valued for providing quality advice and support across all levels.
About the Role
The Assistant Director supports effective governance by providing secretariat services to governance committees, delivering training, enhancing governance maturity, and developing compliance oversight mechanisms and reports. The role also involves developing and reviewing frameworks, policies, delegations, and related resources.
Position Duties
1. Coordination of enterprise governance arrangements
* Develop and maintain understanding of governance arrangements, strategic priorities, and stakeholder interests.
* Implement and refine governance tools, resources, and practices.
* Provide secretariat support to governance committees.
* Partner with secretariat networks for integrated information flow.
* Review briefs, policies, and documents for quality and purpose.
* Evaluate governance effectiveness and inform future reviews.
* Engage with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
* Monitor legislative and guidance changes for compliance management.
* Review delegations and authority instructions to ensure appropriate controls.
* Develop governance capability
* Embed governance practices and identify opportunities for capacity building.
* Facilitate governance training and develop targeted learning programs.
* Partner with stakeholders to develop governance understanding and reporting.
* Team leadership
* Lead and manage staff, fostering development, coaching, and shared goals.
* Other duties as required
Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria)
To succeed, you should demonstrate:
* Knowledge of the PGPA Act and PGPA Rule.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Expertise in corporate governance and secretariat functions.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Stakeholder engagement, relationship building, and change management skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation, and influence skills.
* Ability to attain Baseline Security Clearance.
* (Desirable) Knowledge of contemporary compliance monitoring methodologies.
* (Desirable) Experience supporting risk and audit committees in the public sector.
Position Notes
* Salary: $118,588 - $135,251 plus 15.4% superannuation.
* Applicants must be Australian citizens; appointment contingent on police check.
* Non-ongoing opportunities available for up to 12 months, with possible extension.
* A merit pool may be established for current or future vacancies.
