About the Program: Families Together is a Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) funded program that offers flexible, family‑centred case management to help keep children safe and supported at home. Working alongside families, the program aims to reduce the need for out‑of‑home care by building on existing strengths and capabilities. The Program supports parents and carers to respond confidently to their children’s needs and create safe, nurturing home environments through parenting support, strengthened family functioning, promoting healthy child development, and providing practical assistance to ensure homes are safe and supportive places for children to grow. About the Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Child & Family Support Worker to join our Families Together team in Waitara on a permanent full-time basis, 5 days per week. Reporting to the Specialist Lead, you will have the opportunity to work alongside, and under the guidance of Caseworkers and the Specialist Lead to support the implementation of case plans. The role involves direct work with children and families, providing practical assistance, engagement and observational support to strengthen outcomes. By delivering hand-on, family centred support your will enable Caseworkers to focus on assessment, risk management and case planning, while ensuring children’s safety & wellbeing remains central to practice. This role is a excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to break into the field of Social Work. What You’ll Do: Works in partnership with Caseworkers to implement agreed case plans, particularly actions supporting children’s wellbeing and development. Undertake planned direct work with children as delegated, and provide observations and feedback to inform assessments, reviews and decision-making. Participate in whole-of-family assessments that consider child safety, parenting capacity, family functioning and practical needs. Provide in‑home and community‑based support to families as directed by the Caseworker. Assist families to build safe routines, practical skills and strategies that promote children’s stability and wellbeing. Support the implementation of agreed strategies with children and caregivers, reinforcing protective behaviours and safety goals. Maintain timely, and accurate case notes and reports. What You’ll Bring: Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention or another related field (or willingness to obtain). Experience working directly with children and families in community or human resources setting. Sound understanding of child development, attachment and the impacts of trauma. Ability to follow direction, prioritise tasks and work collaboratively with Caseworkers. Strong observation skills with the ability to clearly communicate concerns. Knowledge of child safety frameworks and mandatory reporting obligations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
