About This Opportunity
Reporting to the QA Manager, the Senior Quality Assurance Officer will work closely with a range of teams across the business with a goal to support compliance and meet all regulatory, customer and company requirements. You will be working within a business that sees QA and Safety as a primary focus.
This is a full-time role with flexible working hours (requirements to work across all shifts) and will be required to work occasional weekends.
Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
* Maintain, implement, and continuously improve food quality and safety systems (SQF, HACCP, GMP)
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards and certifications
* Oversee QA documentation including product specifications, HACCP tables, process flows, allergen management, and manufacturing records
* Conduct internal audits and support external audits and accreditations
* Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Quality Control Points (QCPs), ensuring corrective actions are completed
* Perform raw material and finished product testing
* Verify and approve QC records and batch documentation
* Manage customer complaints, investigations, and corrective actions
* Raise and manage non-conformance reports with suppliers
* Support R&D trials, new product development, and process improvement initiatives
* Conduct supplier audits and assess ingredient safety and suitability
* Deliver on-site food safety and quality training to production staff
* Ensure correct storage, handling, cleanliness, and hygiene standards across production
About You
* Qualification in Food Science (can be currently studying/hold a similar qualification)
* Minimum 3 years' experience in QA/QC within food manufacturing
* Demonstrates a good sense of priorities, structures workload effectively and delivers consistently good results
* Able to communicate effectively, employing tact and discretion and demonstrating a genuine desire to provide a good service
* Willingness to be hands on, work as part of a flexible team providing support or cover for colleagues
* Strong working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, food safety legislation, and audit processes
* Experience with internal audits, laboratory testing, and customer complaint handling
* Ability to train staff in food safety, quality control, and compliance procedures
