The Role:
We are seeking a motivated
Junior Food Technologist
to join our team and support the development of new food products. You will assist in organising and maintaining ingredient inventory, preparing and testing powder blends from home and on-site, and troubleshooting formulation issues such as sweetness, flavour balance, and solubility. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in product formulation and preparation of powder blends (e.g., electrolytes, sports supplements).
* Organise and manage ingredients across multiple projects, ensuring proper storage and stock rotation.
* Conduct basic sensory evaluations and troubleshoot technical challenges related to flavour, sweetness, texture, and solubility.
* Support compliance with food regulations and documentation requirements.
* Work closely with the Product Development Manager on R&D projects, providing accurate feedback and input.
* Adapt to the dynamic needs of a consulting business, managing multiple tasks across varied projects.
About You:
* Degree or diploma in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field (or currently studying).
* Basic knowledge of food science principles and regulatory requirements.
* Hands-on experience with food formulation (university projects, internships, or lab work welcome).
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
* Comfortable working independently at home and occasionally in a storage/production space.
* Proactive, resourceful, and willing to learn in a high-energy environment.
* Must reside in Melbourne's inner east and have access to a vehicle.
